We’ve Won the IWA ‘Best Use of Foreign Languages in Business’ Award
8th November 2013
We are delighted to announce winning the 2013 IWA/Western Mail award for the ‘Best use of Foreign Languages in Business’.
Presented at a prestigious awards ceremony at Cardiff City Hall on the 8th November 2013, the awards celebrate and recognise the achievements of businesses that excel within their areas of operation.
The ‘Best Use of Foreign Languages in Business Award’, sponsored by The National Centre for Languages (CILT Cymru), and judged by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) represents a real acknowledgement of CCICM’s achievement in creating an International Call Centre in North Wales. The award was presented by BBC News Presenter Rebecca John.
International Collections Manager, Dawn Humphreys states, “It is great to see our collective efforts recognised. Foreign language skills are essential in enabling us to transact fluently in over 130 countries and we would not have achieved the success we have without them.
Maintaining this high level of language proficiency is more that simply hiring linguists. It is all about training, development, quality monitoring and language management. Working with local schools, colleges and Bangor University has been of immense assistance in enabling us to operate internationally. We expect that our continued success in this area will continue to deliver growth and more jobs for linguists in the local area.”
Carolyn Goodwin, Language Adviser/Business Manager, CILT Cymru has commented “The selection panel was unanimous in its decision to name CCICM as the winner of the 2013 Award for Best Use of Foreign Languages in Business. This award celebrates the achievement of companies such as CCICM who recognise the importance of language and intercultural skills for business success. It was felt that their language management strategy (in which communication and cultural empathy feature strongly) is undoubtedly part of their strength as a company. Their website, marketing materials and customer interface are offered in a wide range of languages to cater for all client needs.
It is also commendable that CCICM has pledged to play a key role in encouraging other businesses to consider their own language management strategy. CILT Cymru is absolutely delighted to welcome the team ‘on board’ to work in partnership with the National Centre for Languages on its International Education Programme.”
