Huw Williams, Business Development Manager at CCICM completed the Ultra Tour of Snowdonia on September 10th – a 58 mile circular ultramarathon through some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK.
The route starts and finishing in Betws y Coed with Snowdon acting as the centre of the circle. Over 8,000 feet of elevation is covered in under 24 hrs, with competitors only supported at check points.
Back in work on Monday, Huw had some difficulty walking but no problem talking about his experience:
Q: What was your time?
A: I ran 58 miles in 18 hours 11 minutes.
Q: So will you be taking a well-earned rest now?
A: Not at all. This race was part of an ongoing training exercise.
Q: For what?
A: The Marathon des Sables – also known as “the toughest foot race on earth.” 156 miles across the Sahara desert in 6 days carrying all food and equipment.
Q: Are you serious?
A: Yes. In April 2017, I will be running across the Southern Moroccan desert in the six day ultramarathon; approximately the distance of six regular marathons.
Q: What made you decide to do this?
A: I’ve chosen to take on this once in a lifetime challenge to raise money for Scope who support disabled people and their families, changing lives to ensure that disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else.
Q: How much money are you hoping to raise?
A: £8000 is my target, and I’ve got a way to go yet! I’m hoping to gain the support of corporates to help me reach this goal.
Options of corporate contribution sponsorship range from corporate branding on my kit (seen by millions around the globe) to a collection in your office. On this challenge every bit really helps.
Supporting such a great charity and unique challenge will certainly bring your business exposure and I’m more than happy to come to your business for photos and links with your media pathways.
We will provide regular updates on the progress of Huw’s training on the CCICM website.
