Almost all of our 60 employees anonymously completed detailed questions in Chwarae Teg’s Business Culture Survey. This online questionnaire – supported by evidence-gathering around our company head office in North Wales – demonstrated everyone’s commitment to creating and sustaining a fair and inclusive workplace.
This latest award for managing staff, performance, and business makes CCICM the only company in Gwynedd to hold it as a Leader, and comes after Investors In People assessors recently gave us an Advanced (Gold) re-accreditation until 2021 as one of only 17% in the UK.
CCICM’s director Carl Hackman and HR manager Rebecca Davies are driving the Chwarae Teg project within the company. Carl says: “We are delighted this latest initiative also recognises just how hard we strive to ensure this is a great place to work for anyone with a positive attitude, entrepreneurial aptitude, and willingness to learn to succeed.
“Using Chwarae Teg’s survey, we have been reviewing how staff feel about various modern working practices within CCICM. Over the past few months we have used its results to implement a number of improvements to support both our colleagues and the business.
“For example, we have introduced policies – backed-up by awareness training – such as Dignity At Work, Flexible Working, Recruitment & Selection, HR Performance Management, and enhanced our existing Equality & Diversity policy,” Carl adds.
Welcoming CCICM as a Leading Level holder of its award, a Chwarae Teg assessor said their passion is to create a Wales where women achieve and prosper – and they know that creating workplaces where this can happen takes commitment, drive, and an inclusive approach which benefits all employees. She said she was particularly impressed with CCICM’s work around working relationships, learning and development, and reward and recognition.
Chwarae Teg has been working over the past 25 years to inspire, lead and deliver gender equality. It has enabled women to achieve and prosper across all sectors, and at all levels of the economy in Wales. The 10 areas in its survey foster the right conditions to help women join, develop, and remain in the workplace as productive and motivated employees – as well as encouraging diversity throughout – so making it good business practice.
Its FairPlay Employer service benchmarks organisations against peer employers in terms of gender equality in the workplace. FairPlay Employers also receive ongoing support from Chwarae Teg to improve equality and diversity, tackle the gender pay gap, and achieve the benefits of a truly balanced workforce.
