Leading international debt collection company CCICM has appointed its first in-house senior legal counsel and head of litigation to manage its high-value recovery cases.
From a brand-new office in Manchester, Gillian Kaufman will focus on insolvency litigation for both new and existing, UK and global clients, in the commercial and corporate sectors.
Gillian, also experienced in business and strategic development of teams, will oversee CCICM’s existing, experienced litigation team at their head office in Porthmadog, North Wales.
Her experience covers contentious, non-contentious and formal insolvency cases, as well as informal re-structuring, turnaround, re-financing arrangements, and advising distressed businesses.
Previously as a partner of a top-100 UK law firm and the head of its Insolvency and Corporate Recovery Department office in Leeds, at CCICM Gillian will be heavily involved in often-complex cases from the company’s unique International Credit Exchange (ICE) network.
Founded and led by a director of CCICM, Carl Hackman, ICE has over 90 partner offices and 3,000 people in 130 countries. Mr Hackman said: “ICE can deliver local expertise wherever clients need it, with an unrivalled ability to trace, litigate and collect worldwide.”
He added: “Gillian’s appointment at CCICM confirms our position as global leader, especially in the field of trade credit insurance and insolvency debt. We know this work is rarely straightforward and no two cases are ever the same. Our solutions range from financial restructuring, charges over property, expert reports, negotiated settlements, or funded litigation.
“High-value, cross-border, multi-jurisdiction claims can be complex and expensive, with serious and adverse cost Implications for commercial, corporate or quasi-sovereign entities. Our funded litigation package – where we fund the entire case through issue, trial, investigation and enforcement fees – includes our expert management team of investigators, litigators, and collectors
. . .and is risk-free,” Mr Hackman concluded.
Gillian, who has almost 20 years’ experience as a Corporate Recovery Solicitor, said she is moving to CCICM to fulfil her career aspirations.
She added: “Having worked in legal practice for over 20 years, I have gained a substantial amount of knowledge and experience both in my specialised area of law – corporate recovery – and practice development and team management generally. I have also concentrated on the marketing aspects of my work. With CCICM, I can now take this to the next level in a more challenging role with clearly-defined career progression.”
